TUESDAYS

Yoga with movement

Focus will vary on Tuesdays from standing poses, inversions and balance work to back  bends, twists and seated postures and more.

Each class will begin with breath awareness and soft stretches working up to more  vigorous routines.

There will be some flow to the movement.  This  session is geared to intermediate ability but will include modifications to
cater to injuries, lower energy days, and to help everyone participate fully.

SATURDAYS

Hatha Yoga: Uniting breath and movement

Basic breathing techniques will be covered and a series of asanas will be repeated to  allow for a deeper experience. This will facilitate a move toward longer holding and more challenging postures once a solid foundation has been achieved. 

All postures will be offered at both level 1 and 2.

Yoga Instructor – Kathy Murphy 

Kathy has been practicing Yoga for many  years. She has enjoyed leading classes at home and in studios, teaching men and women of all ages and pre-school  children at a Montessori school. Yoga  has become an ever increasing important part of her daily life.

In 2007 a two-week yoga-based visit to India was inspirational. She joined  locals chanting along their sacred Ganges River and participated in classes in an Ashram. 

Holder of a BA and Bed degree and an experienced classroom teacher, Kathy has now completed her yoga teacher
training at the Saltspring Island Yoga Centre. Mindfulness in every movement and thought was nurtured through daily meditation at the organic farm. The  Saltspring experience was one of personal growth and it further intensified her “yogic” lifestyle.

*As in any exercise class, Yoga will be more comfortable on an empty stomach.
